Scott Slapin is an American
violist and composer, recording forEroica Classical Recordings and Red Mark.Slapin studied with renowned viola virtuoso
Emanuel Vardi at theManhattan School of Music . At the age of eighteen, he was one of the youngest graduates in the history of the school. Slapin is the first person to have recorded the complete Bach sonatas and partitas on viola (originally for violin). He has also commissioned and recorded several new works for viola, including Frank Proto's Three Soundscapes, Richard Lane's Third Viola Sonata and Gerald Busby's Muse for Solo Viola, premiered in Weill Hall, New York.Slapin and his wife, violist
