additional info =Ilha Tupinambarana used to be the name of a
fluvial island bordered by Amazon rivers (Amazon, Madeira, Sucunduri, and Abacaxis) in Amazonas,Brazil . Today, it has been split into four completely separate parts by natural channels just like the one which isolates it from themainland of America. So it is no longer one island, but indeed four islands. The totalarea of these islands sums up to 11,850 km², making Ilha Tupinambarana the second largest fluvialgroup of islands in the world afterBananal Island .The group of islands is largely forested, and is only accessible by river or by air. It has a small
mountain range , and is home to the city ofParintins , known for theParintins Folklore Festival . There are also remains of a village constructed in the 1930s by Japanese settlers hoping to cultivatejute .
