Žehra ( _de. Schigra) is a village and municipality in the Spišská Nová Ves District in the Košice Region of central-eastern Slovakia.

History

The village was first mentioned in local records in 1245.

The Church of Holy Spirit at Žehra dates from 1274 and contains wall paintings of the 13th and 14th centuries. It is listed as a World Heritage Site together with the nearby Spiš Castle and Spišská Kapitula.

Geography

The village lies at an altitude of 426 metres and covers an area of 9.658km².It has a population of about 1700 people.
