Biography

Hari Om Sharan was born in Lahore, now in Pakistan, from where his parents migrated to India, after the Partition of India in 1947 [http://www.newsday.co.tt/letters/0,70390.html Hari Om Sharan dies in NY] Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday. www.newsday.co.tt.December 26, 2007, "Retrieved:2008-08-02."] .

During a trip to Guyana, he met Nandini, whom he later married, together they lived in Guyana for many years, before settling down in India .

His bhajans are sung across North India. Even in Kashmir and Jammu valley his bhajans are sung and the local singer may not always know or come across his name, he became a legend in his life time. Rarely there will be days when the All India Radio Vividh Bharathi does not relay a bhajan of his in the morning programme from 6 to 6.30 AM. He is well respected in Indian communities in West Indies, Trinindad and Guyana.

He had a rare insight to handle normally not heard compositions of Kabir, Kamal, Raidas etc. Those who have heard him in his pristine days can never forget his very melodious voice and the impact it created on them. He does sing with simplicity and understatement and does nothing to exaggerate. His pronunciation and enunciation is crystal clear and his feel is unmistakable. His pronunciation of sanskrit verses is excellent and the phonetics comes out distinctly.

In 2004, a tribute album to his career was released, "Hari Om - A Life in Prayer", with songs of top Indian Singers, like Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Anup Jalota etc [ [http://www.devimandir.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=104 Tribute album by Indian music Industry] ] .

He has the most popular bhajan which is listen by all indians although they don't know who have sung this bhajan.The most famous "Hanuman chalisa" in indian History. So many people sung this bhajan but when you listen shri Hari Om sharan , its inexplicable experience ,just you will devote you life to Ram and Hanuman.
