Philip Andrew Brown (born
6 January ,1962 ) was a British athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metres. In the individual 400m his results were not outstanding; however, he was an exceptionalanchor leg relay runner, anchoring the British team to a number of medals.Sporting career
Brown competed for Great Britain in the
1984 Summer Olympics held inLos Angeles ,United States in the 4 x 400 metre relay, where, closing fast, he won the Silver medal with his team matesKriss Akabusi ,Garry Cook andTodd Bennett .The European Championships in 1982 saw the team, once again anchored by Brown, win the Silver medal behind the West German team, in 3:00:68 secs.
At the Rome World Championships of 1987, he ran another excellent final leg in 44.34, which earned the team a Silver medal behind the USA in a European Record time of 2:58:86 secs.
