Franck R. Havenner

Franck Roberts Havenner (September 30, 1882 in Sherwood, Maryland - July 24, 1967 in San Francisco, California) was a six term United States Representative from California's 4th congressional district beginning in 1936. Havenner served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for twelve years before winning election to Congress as the candidate of the United States Progressive Party. He faced no Democratic Party opposition in that election and later ran and served as a Democrat in the same district. He was defeated for reelection in 1940 before returning in 1944, when he served on the House Armed Services Committee. In 1952 he was defeated by Republican William S. Mailliard. Thereafter, he retired from politics, working for the American Federation of Labor.
