England from1 April 1974 to1 April 1998 . Its main town wasLeominster .It was one of two districts in the newly-formed county of
Hereford and Worcester to cross the traditional border betweenHerefordshire andWorcestershire , the other being Malvern Hills. It was formed from, in Herefordshire, themunicipal borough of Leominster, theurban district of Kington,Kington Rural District ,Leominster And Wigmore Rural District ,Weobley Rural District . The only part to come from Worcestershire was theTenbury Rural District .In 1998, the district was abolished, with the Herefordshire parts becoming part of the new unitary districts of Herefordshire; and the Worcestershire parts becoming part of the new Worcestershire district of Malvern Hills.
