The latter play became quite controversial when it was scheduled for production by the Perishable Theater in Rhode Island. The play, which deals with a teenaged boy's plans to shoot up his school, was written before the Columbine School shootings in
Colorado . Columbine occurred one month before the play's production, during rehearsals. The press inundated the theater with calls about whether the play would be canceled in light of the Columbine tragedy. The play was produced as scheduled and many students were encouraged to attend.Humphrey was also a staff writer for the successful children's TV show "
Oobi " which appeared on Noggin' and Nick Jr.
