Thoroughbred race horse who won the prestigiousEpsom Derby in 1930. Retired at the end of that year, he sired 1936 Epsom Derby winner Mahmoud but was sold after that year'shorse breeding season to an American syndicate that includedClaiborne Farm ,Calumet Farm , Greentree Farm, and Stoner Creek Stud.Registered in England as Bleinheim, because the name had already been registered in the United States he had to be registered as Blenheim II. Most notably, he sired the 1941 U.S. Triple Crown champion,
Whirlaway . He was also the damsire ofNasrullah ,Hill Gail , andKauai King as well as the very versatileLe Paillon , who in 1947 won theGrande Course de Haies d'Auteuil steeplechase race and France's most important flat race, thePrix de l'Arc de Triomphe . Blenheim II is also the great-great-grandsire of 1973 Triple Crown championSecretariat .Blenheim II died in 1958 and was buried at Claiborne Farm.
