Phil Perry

Phil Perry (born in East St. Louis, IL on January 12, 1952) is an R&B musician and a former member of the soul group The Montclairs from 1971 to 1975. In 1972, the group recorded under the Paula label with minor soul ballads that included "Dreaming's Out Of Season", "Prelude to a Heartbreak", and "Begging's Hard To Do". Without any chart successful songs, The Montclairs left Paula Records and disbanded in 1975.Perry later teamed with former Montclair bandmate, Kevin Sanlin in a duo that had a short stay at Capitol in 1980.In 1985 he married soul/jazz singer Lillian "Tang" Tynes, and began a marriage partnership that has lasted ever since. In the 1990s he had his biggest success with the number-one R&B hit "Call Me", a remake of Aretha Franklin's 1970 hit, as well as the top forty R&B singles "Amazing Love" and "Forever" all from the hit album "The Heart of the Man", even though he has released many albums since his breakthrough in 1991, he has not had major success since. Phil Perry is also featured on a lot of GRP Records projects, with guitarist Lee Ritenour in particular. Other hits include "Love Don't Love Nobody" and "One Heart, One Love". He was also featured on a song with The Emotions, "I Wanna Thank You For My Love", on the "Bebe's Kids" soundtrack.

In 2007 he toured with saxophonist Dave Koz.

Trivia:Phil Perry composed, wrote and performed a few songs for the anime OVA Riding Bean.
