With such an offering, one can have one's adolescent boy taught the religious rites for seven days — from "Sivarathri" day to "Bharani asterism" — during which the boy observes fast. On "Bharani" morning, the boy with his body coiled with silver wires, is taken in a procession to the temple."Chandattom" is conducted everyday, and according to the latest information, it is booked up to
2010 with up to 9 people doing this everyday.Later in the afternoon, the "Kettukazhcha" festival is held with participation from 13 "Karas" around this temple. Huge decorated effigies of chariots, horses, and epic figures such as
Bhima ,Panchali andHanuman are placed in the paddy field on eastern side of the temple. During the night, the image of Devi, in procession, visits the effigies stationed in the paddy field & ensures that she continues to remain happy with all "karas" (villages) around. These effigies are later taken back to their respective "kavus" (place of worship of different families).
