Andrea Lauren Gibbs (born 26 June, 1981 in
Donnybrook, Western Australia ) is an Australiancomedian , actor and radio presenter.Early life
She spent her childhood on a
family farm in the small country town ofDonnybrook, Western Australia . She attendedDonnybrook District High School andBunbury Senior High School . In 1999 she moved toPerth, Western Australia at the age 17. She attendedCurtin University of Technology where she completed aBachelor of Arts , majoring in theatre.Career
After working in Edinburgh, Scotland for a year working with the
Edinburgh International Arts Festival , she returned to Perth in 2001 and joined improvising comedy troupeThe Big HOO HAA! . She performed with them regularly, as well as writing, producing and acting in numerous other theatre productions and short films.In 2004, she entered
Triple J ’s Raw Comedy competition performing stand-up for the first time and was aWestern Australia n state finalist. The following year she won the state final and performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in the nationals.Late in 2005 she was headhunted by
Southern Cross Broadcasting and currently co-hosts96fm ’s Breakfast Show, one of WA's highest rating breakfast shows. She finished with them in 2007 upon deciding "breakfast radio is like the Burswood Theatre, it's where artists go to die".In 2006 she was hand picked by the
Melbourne International Comedy Festival talent scouts to perform in The Comedy Zone, a showcase of Australian comedy’s hottest new releases. She'll be returning there for the 2008 festival with her highly successful one-person show "STARKERS".Currently
Andrea is currently performing with Perth Theatre Company and Red Ryder for a production of Moira Buffini's "Loveplay", she appears regularly in
The Big HOO HAA! and is currently the room manager of "Kilty Pleasures Comedy" in Perth.External links
