- Nevada State Route 25
State Route 25 is the previous designation for State Route 319 and State Route 375 from
Tonopah east to Lien viaArea 51 ,Rachel ,Caliente , andPanaca .SR-25 was originally established in the early 1930’s and ran from Panaca east to the
Utah state border over present-day SR-319. By 1933, it was extended west over US-93/ State Route 7 through Caliente and Crystal Springs. From there, it was routed over former State Route 25A (present-day State Route 375, former roads passing through the Nellis Air Force Range, and AR-504). The new western terminus was at State Route 4 (present-day as US-6) east of Tonopah. In 1942, a large gap in the route appears in Lincoln and Nye Counties creating what is apparently a discontinuous route. However, the route appears again in its entirety by 1946. In 1950, the same section that was removed in the 1940’s is shown as passing through the Tonopah US Army Air Force Bombing Range (now the
Nellis Air Force Range andNevada Test Site ); this section is labeled as “travel restricted”. The bombing range does not appear on the early 1940’s maps that show a gap in the highway. In 1957, the highway was realigned in Nye County to bypass the bombing range to the northeast. The new western terminus was at the junction with US-6 at Warm Springs, approximately 39 miles east of the former terminus.
SR-25 was divided into two separate highways in the 1978 statewide renumbering. The section east from Panaca became State Route 319. The section from US-6 to Crystal Springs became State Route 375.
