Route description
The first section of SR 562 begins at the intersection of Sunset Road and Las Vegas Boulevard (former SR 604). The highway heads east, skirting the southern edge of the McCarran Airport runways, to an end at the city limits of Henderson at Annie Oakley Drive.
SR 562 begins again on Sunset Road at the Gibson Road intersection, just east of the Interstate 515/U.S. Route 93/U.S. Route 95 interchange. The highway continues east for about one mile (1.6 km) before terminating at Boulder Highway (SR 582).
As part of I-15 south construction, an overpass is being constructed for Sunset Road over I-15, which didn't exist previously. It will thus be continuous between Valley View and Las Vegas Blvd.
History
State Route 562 was originally continuous between Annie Oakley Drive and Gibson Road. This portion of the highway was relinquished to the City of Henderson as of June 2002. The remainder of the route is likely to be turned over to local control in the future.
Major intersections
The entire route is in Clark County.
