Weehawken High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in seventh through twelfth grade from Weehawken, in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Weehawken School District.

As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 541 students and 45.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 11.9. The school was the 119th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in "New Jersey Monthly" magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools". The School

Mission

Currently, the school teaches students in grades 7-12. The school's mission is the following:"At Weehawken High School, we are committed to a program that provides educational, physical, social, ethical and moral growth for all students with consideration for the needs of the individual student's abilities, talents, and background."

Campus

The campus, located across the Hudson River from New York City, just off Boulevard East atop the New Jersey Palisades, consists of a three story brick structure located in a residential area. The building has many features including three computer labs, an ITV room, a modern library/media center, science labs, a refurbished auditorium that can accommodate 800 and a newly renovated gymnasium with a seating capacity of 1200.

Curriculum

As of 2005, Weehawken's curriculum is divided into three separate Academies:

Masters Academy

This academy contains the most rigorous curriculum, and is built to help students gain admission to the most prestigious and competitive universities in the country. Students are advised to take Advanced Placement Program (AP) classes in many subjects, including AP English Literature, AP United States History, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Macroeconomics, AP Spanish Language in addition to college preparatory classes throughout high school, as well as electives offered in conjunction with St. Peter's College in Jersey City.

Collegiate Academy

Focused on students serious about attending college, helps prepare students for admission to competitive schools by advising taking up to five AP classes, a number of Carnegie Unit-granting electives, and other academic classes such as PreCalculus and Meteorology.

Career Academy

Designed to help students in furthering their careers in business, culinary and technical areas.

Weehawken also allows Juniors to take a free Princeton Review SAT prep class on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays.

Athletics

The Weehawken High School Indians compete in the Bergen County Scholastic League (BCSL) National Conference, which comprises private and public high schools located in Bergen County and Hudson County.
