October 2 ,1971 ) was an American football player.Born in 1971 in Tucson Arizona, Steve McLaughlin had a long career growing up playing soccer. He then switched to football and after a successful career kicking in high school was awarded a scholarship to the University of Arizona. Steve played 4 years from 1991-1994 earning All Pac-10, All-American and other honors. He also won the Lou Groza award in 1994 for the best collegiate Place-Kicker in the country.
Steve was drafted in the 3rd Round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. He was selected #82 overall. After playing for the Rams he had stops with the Atlanta Falcons (1996) and Baltimore Ravens (1997). In 1998 he joined the Nashville Kats of the Arena League for four years (1998-2001), the Buffalo Destroyers (2002), the Georgia Force (2003 -2005), Orlando Predators and Arizona Rattlers (2005) before suffering an ankle injury.
Steve also fronted the rock band Pet the Fish during and after college, which enjoyed moderate success in the Southwest playing with bands such as Dave Mathews, and toured bars and night clubs in Arizona and California.
He currently resides in Tucson, Arizona writing and playing music with various artists from all over the country.
