- LaSalle/Van Buren (CTA)
LaSalle/Van Buren is an 'L' station serving the CTA's Brown, Orange, Pink, and Purple Lines. LaSalle/Van Buren is one of the nine stations on the Loop. The station was opened on October 3, 1897.
It was seen in the 1986 film "Running Scared" with
Gregory Hines andBilly Crystal . An actual car was placed on the innerLoop track and crashed by an older and now out-of-commission Orange Line train for one of the scenes. All of the surroundings including the platforms and overall station are still the same now as they were in the movie almost twenty-five years ago. It was also a location in one of the final scenes of the 1987 film "Planes, Trains and Automobiles " withSteve Martin andJohn Candy .The
Chicago Board of Trade Building is one block to the north.
