International Journal of Surgery

IJS Mission Statement

The International Journal of Surgery [http://www.theijs.com] is dedicated to the global advancement of surgical research, education and clinical practice. It aims to promote continued developments in surgery through the sharing of knowledge and ideas across all surgical specialties. The International Journal of Surgery is of great clinical importance to all surgeons as it provides readers with critically reviewed, carefully selected and up to date publications about advances in the field of surgery. The journal aims to develop and uphold standards in research, provide a focus for evidence-based medicine and an opportunity for the critical appraisal of cutting-edge original research.

As a general surgical journal covering all specialities, the International Journal of Surgery aims to facilitate the transfer of important ideas and lines of thought between surgical specialities. In this way the journal will help prevent the trend of increasing sub-specialisation leading to ‘tunnel-vision’ and the sequestration of important surgical advances within particular specialties. The Journal also aims to provide a broad knowledge base for its readers by including review articles on topical subjects and sections on the humanities for the liberal education of all surgeons whatever their specialty.

The journal will be published four times a year (in the months of March, June, September and December) and will contain high quality original research papers, editorials and review articles as well as a forum for the exchange of ideas through our correspondence section. The Journal prides itself on the quality of its editorial team, who will ensure the objectivity, validity and quality of its contents. The editorial board is also supported by a diverse range of reviewers who are leaders in their respective fields.
