Farm to Market Road 2953 or FM 2953 is a two-lane, state-maintained highway that connects the farming areas of northern Montague County and (indirectly) southern Oklahoma to Nocona, Texas. FM 2953 intersects with Farm to Market Road 103 leading to Spanish Fort, Texas and Nocona, Texas, Farm to Market Road 677 leading to southern Oklahoma and Saint Jo, Texas, and Farm to Market Road 2634 near Lake Nocona, as well as other various county secondary roads.

*Counties: Montague

History

Paved after the development of Lake Nocona in the late 1950s, FM 2953 connects the numerous farming areas of northern Montague county with southern Oklahoma, Lake Nocona, and Nocona. Nocona became the economic hub of northern Montague County by the turn of the 20th Century, and improved roads were needed to move goods (particularly cotton, oil, and cattle) to the railroad from the numerous areas of northern Montague County.

Termini

FM 2953 terminates at Farm to Market Road 2634 near Lake Nocona and at Farm to Market Road 677 near Illinois Bend, Texas.
