Ricardo Domeneck

Ricardo Domeneck is a poet and visual artist, born on July 4, 1977, in São Paulo, Brazil.

Literature and performance

His first book was published in Rio de Janeiro with the title "Carta aos anfíbios" in 2005, followed in 2007 by "a cadela sem Logos". Since then, his work has ranged from writing to the oralization of texts in performance readings and video art. The poet was a member of a group of actors and dancers from São Paulo who studied the techniques assembled by Brazilian choreographer Klauss Vianna, and such corporeal experience would become important in the later development of his views of poetry as a merge of text, sound and performance, independent from Literature. Living in Berlin, Ricardo Domeneck would begin a research of the poetics of performance and sound poetry of DADA, translating poets like Hans Arp and Pierre Albert-Birot into Portuguese, and also poet-performers from the Wiener Gruppe (H.C. Artmann, Konrad Bayer, Gerhard Rühm, etc), active in the 1950s.

Domeneck has performed in experimental poetry festivals in Buenos Aires, Berlin, Madrid and Barcelona, such as the [http://www.literaturwerkstatt.org/index.php?id=566 Poesiefestival Berlin] and the [http://www.propost.org/berlin/de/poets_de.htm Transferéncia Poética] in Spain.

The poet is also the co-founder of Kute Bash, a collective based in Berlin, which organizes weekly performances and live acts with artists and musicians such as Kevin Blechdom, Planningtorock, Hanayo, Mount Sims and Angie Reed among others, defending the concept of no distinctions between curatorial work and creative production. The collective is also responsible for the independent label Kute Bash Records, which has released the multimedia duo Tetine.

Ricardo Domeneck is one of the editors of the online magazine [http://www.hildamagazine.net Hilda] with Oliver Roberts in Germany and [http://www.revistamododeusar.blogspot.com Modo de Usar & Co.] with poets Angélica Freitas, Fabiano Calixto and Marília Garcia in Brazil. He also worked as content manager for the magazine [http://www.flasher.com Flasher] at its inception, being responsible for some of its early material, interviewing artists Janine Rostron aka Planningtorock, Bruce LaBruce and Walter Pfeiffer, among others.

Ricardo Domeneck has been translated into Spanish, German, Catalan and English and included in the anthologies "Cuatro Poetas Recientes del Brasil" (Buenos Aires: Black & Vermelho, 2006), "Überland und Leuchtende Städte - 12 Dichterinnen und Dichter aus Lateinamerika" (Berlin: SuKulTur, 2006) and "Tigertail Poetry Annual: Brazil Issue" (Miami: Tigertail, 2008).

In video, his interventions have been shown from club walls in Germany and Switzerland to the public television in Brazil. In both his writing and videos, Ricardo Domeneck concentrates on his own body as fixed set of materials.
