Hutchinson High School (known locally as Hutch High) is located in Hutchinson, Kansas in southcentral Kansas. The enrollment for 2006-2007 is approximately 1,400 students. The current principal is Ronn Roehm, and the assistant principals are David T. Patterson, David L. Patterson, and Sheri Hart.

chool Layout

Hutchinson High School consists of several halls. A Hall is the longest hall in the school. It is attached to the Salthawk Activity Center at the west end and to the cafeteria and auditorium at the east. Detached from A hall are B, G, N, F and C halls. The Vocational Technology building also stands alone. There is a myth that the plans of a school in California were switched with the original plans for HHS. Students take that as the reason they have to walk outside in driving snow, pouring rain, or intense heat. There are three gymnasiums on campus (North Gym, South Gym, and the Main Gym/Salthawk Activity Center, known better as 'the SAC') Many students attend classes and athletics practices (swimming) at the YMCA close to campus. Students are also allowed to make the short trip to nearby Hutchinson Community College to take classes.

tudent Activities

Hutchinson High School (HHS) is the only public high school within the city limits of Hutchinson, KS. The school mascot is the Salthawk and the school colors are blue and gold.

Hutchinson High School has been known recently for their athletic performances. The Salthawks are four-time 6A state champions in football, having won the state championship in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and state runners up in 2003. The Salthawk basketball teams have won boys championships in 2001, 1975, and 1974, and girls championships in 1985 and 1976. The Salthawk boys golf team have won state championships in 2005, and 1995. The Salthawks wrestling team won state titles in 2003, 2002, 1982, and 1973 making it the most successful sport in Hutchinson High School history. The boys track and field team won state titles in 2004 and 2000.

The "Newshawk" is the school's official paper. It is published on a monthly basis.

-Thirteen NFL All-Americans since 1986 and over 75 NFL National Qualifying Students since 1972
