Geoff Zanelli (born
September 28 1974 ) is anEmmy winning composer working primarily in the medium of film music. His early career was notable for scoring additional music on roughly 30 film scores written byHans Zimmer ,Harry Gregson-Williams ,John Powell ,Klaus Badelt andSteve Jablonsky including each film in the "Pirates of the Caribbean " trilogy, "The Last Samurai ", "Pearl Harbor ", "Equilibrium" and "Hannibal ". He has since moved on to more solo work, including his 2006 Emmy-winning score forSteven Spielberg 's miniseries "Into The West", as well as the films "Secret Window ", "House of D ", "Disturbia ", "Delgo ", "Hitman", "Outlander", and "Ghost Town".He is from
Westminster, California , is a graduate ofBerklee College of Music , currently writes at Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions, and has worked with filmmakers including Steven Spielberg,Ridley Scott ,Jerry Bruckheimer ,Gore Verbinski ,Jeffrey Katzenberg ,Edward Zwick ,David Koepp andDavid Duchovny .Aside from film and television scores, Zanelli has also worked with recording artists, writing string arrangements for the bands

Zanelli began his musical career as a guitar player for numerous bands in California. While attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music on scholarship, Zanelli dual majored in Film Scoring and Music Production/Engineering. He was the recipient of both the Doug Timm Award in recognition of his film scoring work and the Music Production and Engineering Scholar Award prior to graduating
Magna Cum Laude .Zanelli then met Academy Award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer in 1994 and moved to Los Angeles to join Zimmer’s studio team. He became the assistant engineer on the debut album from Goldfinger, working with
Grammy Award-winning producerJay Rifkin forMedia Ventures affiliateMojo Records . His engineering background also proved valuable as an assistant engineer on Hans Zimmer's Academy Award-nominated score for "The Preacher's Wife ".Zanelli's experience led to working with British composer John Powell on his first Hollywood feature, "
Face/Off ", directed byJohn Woo . Throughout the following years, Zanelli was called on as a composer and arranger for Powell on many feature films, including "The Prince of Egypt " and "Forces of Nature ". He later teamed with Harry Gregson-Williams and Powell to write additional music for "Antz " and "Chicken Run ". This led to more collaborations, this time with Hans Zimmer on "Hannibal", theGolden Globe -nominated scores for "Pearl Harbor" and "The Last Samurai" and all three films in the "Pirates Of The Caribbean" trilogy.He has since moved on to more solo work, scoring David Duchovny's feature directorial debut "House Of D",
