- Radio Norwich
Radio Norwich is a fictional
radio station inNorwich, England , in thetelevision series "I'm Alan Partridge ". It contains elements from bothBBC Local Radio andIndependent Local Radio ; it is unclear precisely what it is supposed to be, but theBBC is never referred to in the station's logo, jingle s or idents. The title character, played by
Steve Coogan , can be seen on-air at the beginning of several episodes, usually hostingphone in s on various inane topics (for example: "Which is the best "Lord": "Lord of the Rings", "Lord of the Dance", or "Lord of the Flies"?") Partridge can also often be seen bickering with D.J Dave Clifton (played byPhil Cornwell ), who takes the slots after his own in both series of the show. There is a strong implication that any radio station that would employ Alan Partridge must be pretty insignificant, reinforced by the general satirical view of Norwich as a boring and insignificant place.
In reality Norwich and its surrounding county are served by
BBC Radio Norfolk , and the two names are often confused. Ironically, on29 June 2006 , a new radio station for Norwich, owned by theTindle Radio Group, launched under the name of99.9 Radio Norwich .Radio Shows
