The licenses briefly were acquired by
Clear Channel Communications at a price of $180000 [Broadcasting & Cable, 29-SEP-03] . At the time, Clear Channel ownedWWTI , the local ABC 50, nowNewport Television .The stations shut down in 2005 after the death of the owner and subsequent legal troubles, however, licenses are still active and are owned by NC Partners. As with all television station licenses in the state of
New York , WLOT's and WBQZ's licenses expire onJune 1 ,2007 , and license renewal applications are dueFebruary 1 ,2007 . As of July 2007, both stations' licenses are still active, according to the FCC's database.The question of who owns the station was the subject of legal challenges. The courts have yet to rule.
