John Handley High School is a public high school located in the city of Winchester, Virginia. It was founded by a grant from Judge John Handley, hence the school mascot, the Judges. Construction on Handley High School started in 1922, and continues to the present day. Today, the school is currently under a multi-million dollar renovation. In 1998, Handley was placed on the list of the National Register of Historic Places. Many visitors have agreed that it has a very beautiful high school campus.

Athletics

Handley supports a winning athletics department. In 2007, the girls tennis team finished first in the state of Virginia and repeated this victory in 2008. [http://www.wps.k12.va.us/jhhsathl/athlhome.cfm]

Handley has also won numerous state titles in its 80+ year history and pumped out many great athletes
