The school name comes from the Australian
Brumby horse. It admits male and female pupils aged 11 to 16 (years 7 to 11). The current principal is Dr. T. Clark. Since September 2005, it has been a specialistEngineering College . Although, it was low performing, it is getting better and better. It has won an award for the best improved school in North Lincolnshire. The connection with horses continues with the names of three of the buildings - Shetland, Clydesdale and Highland.History
It started in 1928 as Brumby Senior Boys School. In 1929, girls joined the school for one year before moving to the Ashby Girls Secondary Modern School. It was a former
secondary modern school , the Brumby Secondary Boys School. It became a Brumby Comprehensive School in 1974, when education in Scunthorpe was reorganised. It became Brumby School in 2002, the became an Engineering College. A new engineering centre opened in 2007.Academic performance
It gets the second best GCSEs in Scunthorpe after the Frederick Gough School, and just below the England average. No schools in Scunthorpe have a sixth form, and only two towns in North Lincolnshire (
