- Tasmanian Rugby League
The Tasmanian Rugby League is responsible for administering the game of
rugby league in the Australian state ofTasmania .Since midway through the 2003-04 season there has been no organised competition in the state. The former senior amateur competition folded due to rising public liability insurance costs and dwindling player numbers.
History
2003-2004
Prior to the competition folding there was a four-team Hobart competition [http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=7-2120-0-0-0 The Tasmanian Rugby League] ] between:
* Eastern Suburbs Panthers
* Hobart City Tigers
* Sandy Bay Falcons
* Derwent valley Sharks1996-1997
Between 1994 and 1997, the Tasmanian Rugby League ran a state-wide competition [ [http://users.hunterlink.net.au/~maajjs/aus/sum/aus1997.htm#Tasmania%20First%20Grade] ] Verify credibility|date=August 2008 which included the above plus the following three teams:
* Launceston Clippers (Played through the Australian Maritime College)
* North-West (Based in Burnie)
* SmithtonDuring this period the Tasmanian Rugby League ran a Northern Tasmanian vs Southern Tasmanian competition.
Ben Mckinnon from the Launceston Clippers is the only player to have won the statewide best + fairest on two occassions both in his debut season in 1995 and then again in 1997.
