History of Damascus (Arabic: تاريخ دمشق "Tarikh Dimashq") is a book by Islamic scholar Ibn Asakir. It covers the life of every important man and woman who visited Damascus. That is not only limited to Ilm ar-Rijal [ [http://www.sunnah.org/history/Scholars/ibn_asakir.htm Ibn Asakir ] ] [ [http://en.fgulen.com/content/view/1148/3/ Fethullah Gülen: A life dedicated to peace and humanity - Ensuring Authenticity ] ] , but it also includes historian, and political figures. It also has a huge collection of Arabic poems. This book is one of most important books about Islamic history of Syria. It was printed recently in seventy two volumes.
When it comes to Islamic figures, Ibn Asakir tries to collect everything that has been said about that figure (true or false) but with full Isnad.
