History
The current team was formed in 1994 from the union of two clubs of the city, Biella Basket Club and Amici del Basket Biella. It is distinct from the
Libertas Biella team which was playing in Serie A in the 60s. Coach of the new team wasFederico Danna , who had already coachedAuxilium Torino in Serie A in the 80s.The team started his history in Serie B2, but quickly moved his way up on upper divisions of the Italian League: in
1996 the team won the Serie B2 championship and was promoted in Serie B1; in1998 the team made his way to the second tier of the Italian League, Serie A2, by winning a promotion playoff. In2001 the team won the League with a still standing record of 30 victories and 6 losses and was promoted to Serie A.In 7 years in Serie A, the team has made the playoffs 3 times, and has been known for his smart signing of many promising players despite a tiny budget: among them
