The Young and the Restless " expressed interest, and wrote the character of unwed teenage mother Nina Webster into the storyline specifically for Cast. "Nina Webster" was initially a very small, supporting role tied into theteenage pregnancy theme (she was an acquaintance of the main character, Molly Stark, a teenage runaway befriended byCricket Blair (Lauralee Bell ))of the summer 1986 season. However, her character proved so popular that she was added as a regular after the storyline ended. She started on the show in 1986 and her character matured considerably, marrying into the wealthyChancellor family .
