- LMS Jubilee Class 5731 Perseverance
LMS "Perseverance" was a Jubilee Class
locomotive of theLondon, Midland and Scottish Railway . Constructed atCrewe in 1936 with the original number 5731, her number was changed to 45731 in 1948. Like many other Jubilees, it was named after aRoyal Navy ship,HMS Perseverance , though the name existed on railway engines as far back as1829 : a locomotive named Perseverance ran in theRainhill Trials .45731 was withdrawn from service in October 1962 and cut up atCowlairs in 1963.ources
