Akhilesh Yadav {अक्खिलेश यादव} (born 1 July 1973)is an Indian politician and the Lok Sabha member for Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Kannauj in a by election in 2000. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2009 general elections. Akhilesh Yadav has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore affiliated to University of Mysore.[1] Samajwadi Party’s young MP from Kannauj Akhilesh Yadav has already locked four Lok Sabha elections since 2000(he had won the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat in 2009 but had to vacate it since he had already won from Kannauj), and now after being appointed as party’s UP president is spearheading the campaign to bring back Samajwadi Party to power in 2012 in UP assembly elections.

Akhilesh's wife, Dimple, unsuccessfully contested the by election for Firozabad Lok Sabha seat in 2009 against actor turned politician Raj Babbar.[2] The Firozabad seat had been won by Akhilesh Yadav in the May 2009 general elections by a margin of 67,301 votes against Bahujan Samaj Party candidate SPS Baghel. Akhilesh, who also won from Kannauj, vacated the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat, leading to a by poll.[3] [4][5]
