Educational Talent Search

Educational Talent Search

The Educational Talent Search (ETS) is one of eight United States federal TRIO programs. It was created as part of the "Higher Education Act" of 1965. The program identifies junior high and high school students with which to implement intervention strategies meant to increase the chances of the student pursuing a college education. There are currently more than 475 ETS programs in the U.S. serving more than 389,000 students. [ [http://ets.ucdavis.edu/pages/history.cfm Educational Talent Search at UC Davis] ]

Requirements

At least two-thirds of the students in each local ETS program must be from low-income economic backgrounds or from families where no immediate family member has a college education. Local programs are required to demonstrate that they meet federal requirements every four years in order to maintain funding.
