- Brunot Island
Brunot Island (aka Brunot's Island) is a 129-acre island in the
Ohio River at the west end of Pittsburgh inAllegheny County, Pennsylvania ,USA . It is home to the Brunot Island Generating Station, a 315 MWfossil fuel power plant .The
Ohio Connecting Railroad Bridge crosses the Ohio River at the island. The island does not otherwise connect to the land, and all vehicular traffic must use a ferry to access the island. The employees of the power plant use a pedestrian walkway on the railroad bridge to go to work.The island was scene to the accidental death of a 19 year old man from Kennedy Township, Matthew Scott Delanko. He was known to frequent the island to hang out; the authorities have ruled the death accidental. Company employees told police that their van was missing from the parking lot near the main building where they had left it.
