Society of Television Lighting Directors

The Society of Television Lighting Directors (STLD) was established 30 October 1974 to promote discussion on techniques and the use and design of equipment. With no union affiliations it is recognised as a platform for open discussion and demonstration of the craft [cite web|url=http://web.archive.org/web/20060524021736/http://www.bagsofmedia.com/list.asp?CatID=2&SubID=0|title=Professional Bodies|accessdate=2007-10-23 (Bags of Media) ] — and is run as a non-profit making organisation by an elected committee of volunteers for the benefit of its members.

Professional meetings are organised throughout the UK and abroad, on techniques, equipment and related subjects - and technical information together with news of members and their activities, are published three times per year in the Society's magazine "Television Lighting" each February, June and October - making these meetings and magazine, together with the STLD website a recognised international resource [cite web|url=http://web.archive.org/web/20061231171144/http://www.professional-lighting.com/plonlinemar04.htm|title=Resources|accessdate=2007-10-23 (Professional Lighting & Production)] of information for the television lighting industry.
