- WKKK
The WKKK (also known as the Women's Ku Klux Klan or Women of the Ku Klux Klan) was one of a number of auxiliaries of the
Ku Klux Klan .Some studies estimate the WKKK had approximately 500,000 members in the 1920s, [cite journal |last=Blee |first=Kathleen |authorlink= |coauthors= |year=1991 |month= |title=Women in the 1920s Ku Klux Klan movement |journal=Feminist Studies |volume=1 |issue=Spring |pages=57–77 |id= |url= |accessdate= |quote=|doi=10.2307/3178170 ] and women comprised up to half of the Klan membership in some areas. [Daniels, p. 16.]
The WKKK participated in mass KKK rallies and marches [Bullard, p. 22.] and incorporated gender equality and suffrage issues with the racist sentiments of the men's group by claiming to be for the preservation of "family life and women's rights." [Daniels, pp. 17-18.]
