Common conceptions of "My World"

The song "Don't Cry" with alternate lyrics was the track before "My World", so the last few seconds of "Don't Cry" are arguably supposed to be beautiful while "My World" consists of gory lyrics and rapping. Because of this, many listeners perceive "My World" as a prank made to "ruin" the feel of the song "Don't Cry," while others see it as simply a terrible attempt by Axl Rose at writing an industrial song.
