Bellsburg, Tennessee is an unincorporated
rural community located on the line betweenCheatham County, Tennessee andDickson County, Tennessee along State Route 49. Its approximate location is coord|36|17|10|N|87|10|00|W.Bellsburg is unusual in that it has long been a racially-mixed rural Southern community. The community traces its name to one Shadirck Bell, an early settler who purchased convert|1000|acre|km2 in the area as it was first being settled.
Bellsburg is located near the western end of the
Montgomery Bell Bridge over theHarpeth River , named for an early area entrepreneur unrelated to Shadirck Bell. The population of Bellsburg cannot be definitively stated with any certainty as it is neither an incorporated town nor acensus-designated place and hence there are no widely-agreed upon boundaries, but it is likely to be less than 250.
