- Michael Avon
-
Michael Avon (born 23 October 1974) is an Australian rules football field umpire in the Australian Football League. He has umpired 114 career games in the AFL.[1][2]
In 2005 he was dropped for a week after mistakingly asking Essendon's Ty Zantuck who had infringed, rather than Fremantle's Matthew Carr who should have received the free kick, if he wished to allow the behind to stand or if he wished to have another shot. Not surprisingly the defender agreed to allow the minor score to remain.[3]
