Sunni Islamic Scholar who followed theHanafi madhhab .Biography
He began as a student of his maternal uncle,
Muzni , a leading disciple of ImamShafi'i . Later he joined the Hanafi school and used his knowledge inHadith to defend that school. His monumental scholarly works, such as Sharh "Ma'ani al-Athar " and "Mushkil al-Athar" (clarifying the meaning of hadiths that seems conflicting), are encyclopedic in scope and have long been regarded as indispensable for training students ofFiqh .He has been famous for "Aqeedat Tahawiyyah", a treatise on
Aqidah and been accepted by all three schools ofSunni creed. The scholars of his time praised him and mentioned him as being a scholar of Hadith (Muhaddith), one whose report was reliable and an established narrator. He was viewed as a distinguished and highly proficient writer and became known as the most knowledgeable of
fiqh amongst theHanafi s inEgypt . This was even though he had a share in the fiqh of all of themadhab s of fiqh andHadith , and he knew of the various sciences of Islam.unni views
