Scotland . It was constructed to manage the surrounding countryside and now overlooks the Edinburgh Waverley line. The manor fell into disuse during the 1930s and by the 1970s had been removed from local road maps.Haunting
According to local legend the manor and its surrounding grounds are a center of paranormal activity. Some legends hold that the locale is haunted by restless spirits of German soldiers who died there during a cholera outbreak in 1917; at which time the grounds being used as a POW camp. Other legend hold that the manor house itself was the site of one or more events which lead it to develop a paranormal aura.
The most common manifestation reported by these legends is a feeling of dread.

Shankend is located north of
Hawick , close toWhitrope Siding . The "Road Atlas of Britain" from1969 shows it to be on a small B-road leading North away from Hawick.References
