T-Spoon

T-Spoon

T-Spoon (or T Spoon) is a Dutch pop/dance band, created in 1991 by rapper and former U.S. Airforce member Shalamon Baskin (aka Shamrock) and composer Remy de Groot (aka Prince Peration). In 1994, they were offered a recording contract by A La Bianca and had several hits, working alongside guest musicians..

In 1994 the US Jazz/Blues vocalist Jean Shy was the featured Singer for the Dutch formation which prior had two Top 10 Hits. T-SPOON featuring JEAN SHY landed a No. 5 Hit with the very jazzy oriented eurodance track "Where R' U' Now", and with the remake of the Janice Joplin Song "Mercedes Benz" in a euro reggae style, they made it to No. 7 in the Benelux.

In 1996, both singer Linda Estelle and dancer Anatevka Bos joined the group, which changed the bands direction into the then-popular happy hardcore-genre. In 1997, they became famous with the summer hit "Sex on the beach", which made the charts in The Netherlands as well as Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia, The Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. The song was first released in Ireland following its success in Europe. Here it became one of the biggest hits of the year and peaked at number 2 in the Irish charts. This was unusual as it was a massive hit in Ireland but was not released in the neighbouring UK. Such was the success in the Republic of Ireland that the song was released in the UK at the end of the summer and replicated the success in Ireland also reaching number 2 in the UK charts.

In 1998, Shamrock left the group, and was replaced by Greg Dillard. With Dillard as the bands new rapper, the group had the 1999 hit "Summer love". Anatevka left the group that same year to host a TV show on Netherlands station Fox 8 (now named Veronica).

In 2000, Greg Dillard was forced to leave the group for breach of contract. He claimed to be unable to be present at the bands concerts because of family issues. Estelle therefore became the new face of the group. Together with Des'Ray of 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor and Anita Doth of 2 Unlimited, she started her new group Divas of Dance-

In 2002, Shamrock rejoined T-Spoon, and the group has released a number of remixes that were not very successful.
