powiat) in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, north-central Poland. It was created on January 1, 1999as a result of the Local Government Reorganization Act of 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Aleksandrów Kujawski, which lies convert|20|km|mi|0|abbr=on south of Toruńand convert|55|km|mi|0|abbr=on south-east of Bydgoszcz. The county also contains the towns of Ciechocinek, lying convert|6|km|mi|0|abbr=on east of Aleksandrów Kujawski, and Nieszawa, convert|14|km|mi|0|abbr=on east of Aleksandrów Kujawski.
The county covers an area of convert|475.61|km2|sqmi|1. As of 2006 its total population is 55,195, out of which the population of Aleksandrów Kujawski is 12,359, that of Ciechocinek is 10,855, that of Nieszawa is 2,012, and the rural population is 29,969.
Aleksandrów County is bordered by
Toruń Countyto the north, Lipno Countyto the east, Włocławek Countyto the south-east, Radziejów Countyto the south and Inowrocław Countyto the west.
The county is subdivided into nine
gminas (three urban and six rural). These are listed in the following table, in descending order of population.
