Stanley Aaron Wentzel (
January 13 ,1917 -November 28 ,1991 ) was aMajor League Baseball center fielder who played for the Boston Braves at the end of the 1945 season. The 28-year-oldrookie was a native ofLorane, Pennsylvania .Wentzel is one of many ball players who only appeared in the major leagues during
World War II . He started four games for Boston in the last week of the season, all against the New York Giants. He got only 4 hits in 19at bats (.211), but had 6runs batted in . He also scored 3 runs. In the field, Wentzel recorded 8putouts with no errors.He died at the age of 74 in
