Ducati 900GTS

Ducati 900GTS

The Ducati 900GTS is a motorcycle that was produced by the Italian firm Ducati in the late 1970s. It used an 864 cc L-twin engine. It was introduced as a result of customer feedback on earlier bikes.

The 860GT on which the 900GTS was based had squared off styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro which proved unpopular. In an effort to revive sales a restyle of the bike was undertaken, resulting in the 1976 860GTS model, which had a rounder tank than the GT, and a restyled seat without the a duck-tail. This restyle regained some of the lost ground in sales, and by 1977 further cosmetic and electrical enhancements were introduced. It is this last update that was named the 900GTS. Production ceased in 1978, with these later bikes having engines mechanically very similar to the Darmah SS and SD bikes that replaced them.
