Richard Kahui (born
9 June 1985 inTokoroa ,New Zealand ) is a New Zealandrugby union footballer who plays in the position of Centre. He plays for Waikato in theAir New Zealand Cup and made hisSuper 14 debut in 2006 with the Highlanders.Kahui was the top try scorer of the 2007 Air New Zealand trophy. In the
2007 Super 14 he was injured for a majority of the season, while playing for the Chiefs. He also won the 2006 steinlager award for the Air New Zealand Cup's best player.In 2008 Kahui was also named as a member of the New Zealand All Blacks squad for the in-bound tours to New Zealand.
He made his All Blacks debut on
June 21 2008 , starting at outside centre (13), and scored a try in New Zealand's 44-12 victory over England. He has shown his versatility by playing on the wing (14) in the All Blacks recent Bledisloe Cup victory over Australia.Richard is the son of Sam and Trish Kahui. Sam and Trish split when Richard was nine. There were a few tight years as Trish raised Richard, his older sister Theresa and his younger brother Mark on her own (older brother Alan had left home).Fact|date=September 2008
