Thomas Darley

In 1702 Thomas Darley of Aldby Park bought an Arabian horse Darley Arabian which was to become one of the 3 horses considered to have "sired" the Thoroughbred breed of horses. It is known as the Darley Arabian.

His bloodline is thought to be in over 95% of today's racehorses.
