Its administrative seat and largest town isBiałogard , which lies convert|113|km|mi|0 north-east of the regional capitalSzczecin . The only other town in the county isKarlino , lying convert|9|km|mi|0|abbr=on north-west of Białogard.The county covers an area of convert|845.36|km2|sqmi|1. As of 2006 its total population is 48,241, out of which the population of Białogard is 24,339, that of Karlino is 5,794, and the rural population is 18,108.
