Brioschi is an italian company founded in 1907 as "Achille Brioschi & C." to "produce and make commerce of chemicals, liquors and similars". In 1914 the society was quoted on the Milan stock exchange.

*Brioschi is an Italian-manufacturedantacid which usessodium bicarbonate as its active agent. It is known for the distinctive blue bottle in which it comes and the fizzing action it exhibits when used. The brioschi itself comes in several small pale, natural lemon/tan colored rods, which are put in coolwater to effervesce and then drank to relieve the ache ofheartburn . This product is known to cause a laxative effect in certain cases. It works well for most stomach pain caused by consuming food products that are high in fat content. It appears to have an "Alka-Seltzer like" reaction when placed in water, but it is much more effective thanAlka-Seltzer and does not contain aspirin. The price varies from retailer to retailer, but expect to pay between as low as $4.99 per bottle at A&P to upward of $8.99 at certain NYC locations such as Duane Reade.
