Jean-Pierre Barda

Jean-Pierre Barda

Jean-Pierre Barda (born March 7 1967, Paris) is a French pop star, actor, make up artist, and hair dresser. He is well-known for being part of the Pop group Army of Lovers.

Barda was born in Paris, France, and moved to Sweden with his Algerian Jewish family as a child. Barda started out working with Alexander Bard as a part of the Barbie project. He called himself Farouk, but reverted to his real name when Barbie morphed into Army of Lovers. Barda has been with the group in all of its incarnations, and has often worn the most outrageous or revealing outfits. Though he is credited as playing an instrument for both Barbie and Army of Lovers, it is doubtful. There is also some controversy as to whether or not he helped write the songs, but it is certainly him singing/chanting on AOL hits such as "Crucified" and "Israelism".

Anno 2004, there was initially a suggestion that Barda would be part of a new band called Bodies Without Organs. This did not come to fruition, and Barda's explicit involvement extended only as far as co-writing BWO's first single "Living In A Fantasy"

Besides his work in music, Barda is also very well-known in Sweden as a hair-dresser and make-up artist. He has done work for movies, TV, photo shoots even for the Queen of Sweden. He also has a career as an actor, and has appeared in film, TV, and on stage. In this field he is currently working with a 3G phone company on developing a TV-style fashion programme for mobile phones.
